BeBee is a map you share with people you chose. That only works if you can trust us with where you are — so this policy is short, honest, and written to be read. If anything here is unclear, write to hello@bebee.app and a person will answer.
1. Who we are
BeBee is a family location-sharing app. For the personal data described here, the operator of BeBee is the data controller. You can reach us at hello@bebee.app for anything in this document — questions, objections, or requests.
2. What we collect
Your account basics (e-mail address and the display name you choose). Location data: your current position while sharing is on, the tracks of walks you record, the areas of map you have uncovered, and crossings of safe zones. Content you create: messages, plans, and photos you attach. And minimal technical data — the kind every server sees — needed to keep the service running securely.
3. What we use it for
To show your position to the groups you joined, to draw your uncovered map, to record the walks you asked us to record, and to send zone arrival and departure alerts your family set up. That is the whole list. We do not build advertising profiles, we show no ads, and we do not use your location for anything you cannot see in the app.
4. Where your data lives
Most of it stays on your device: the uncovered map, recorded walks, safe zones and their logs, and plans are stored locally in your browser. Account basics are kept on our servers in the European Union. When a shared feature needs a server — delivering a message, showing your live position to your group — the data passes through our infrastructure only as far as the feature requires.
5. Who can see your data
Members of groups you have joined see what the group is for: your position while you share it, group messages, and zone events for zones in that group. Nobody else. We never sell personal data, we never share it with advertisers, and we disclose it to authorities only when the law genuinely obliges us to.
6. Children and families
BeBee is built for families, and watching a child's location is only lawful and only decent with a legal guardian's consent — creating a family group and inviting a child is that consent in action. Zones can also notify the watched person themselves, and we encourage families to switch that on: the app is meant to be something a family does together, not something done to its youngest members.
7. Security
All traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted. Access to production data is limited to the few people who operate the service, and we keep as little on our servers as the features allow — the best protection for data is not holding it.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to your data, correction, export, restriction of processing, or deletion. Most of these you can do yourself: your name is editable in your profile, and deleting your account in Profile removes your account record. For anything else, e-mail us — we answer within 30 days, and you can always complain to your data protection authority.
9. How long we keep things
Zone logs keep only the most recent crossings (roughly a month of family life) and older ones are dropped automatically. Data stored on your device stays until you clear it there. Your account record is kept until you delete the account, after which it is removed from our systems within 30 days.
10. Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect — not after. The current version always lives at this address. Questions, requests, complaints: hello@bebee.app.
